Things Ain't What They Used To Be

This song is an old blues standard, and I got hooked on it (started playing it) as a horn tune. After a while I found a version by Ella Fitzerald with lyrics, and its been one of my favorite vocal pieces ever since. The horn arrangements on this one were written by Denis Solee, and I'm playing the alto part.
The lyric on this tune seems to transcend time. The line "look at that army, fighting to be free," to me is about the army of light workers on this planet fighting to bring more peace and love into human consciousness. We have come so far, and we have so far to go. Stevie Wonder has a lyric in one of his tunes that speaks to me regarding our evolution in consciousness - "its taken him (God) so long 'cause we've go so far to go." And certainly, things ain't what they used to be.
